Scouting Report
Excellent as a sacks technician, he knew how to get into the opposing backfield. Was a hard worker and an intense performer with the physical tools and focus to dominate as a pass rusher. Really fought his way to get to the quarterback. Came by his talent naturally (as a son of Hall-of-Fame defensive end Howie Long). Was a bit one-dimensional as a sacks guy, and did not provide a lot in picking up the run or making plays dropping back into coverage. Lacked elite size and closing speed. Durability was also an issue later on in his career.
Long Range Potential: Quality, pass-rushing defensive end.
