KHALIL MACK MOVES TO THE BOLTS

The Los Angeles Chargers acquired linebacker/defensive end Khalil Mack from the Chicago Bears for a second-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 48 overall) and a sixth-round draft pick in 2023.

What does it give the Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are trying to keep up with AFC West teams like Kansas City and Denver, the latter having just acquired veteran starting quarterback Russell Wilson from Seattle. LA has plenty of offense but their defense was a little suspect last season. Enter Mack, who will bookend Joey Bosa to form arguably the best edge-rushing tandem in the NFL in 2022. Mack is getting up there in age but he should still have some juice left in the tank next season.

What does it give the Chicago Bears
For Chicago, this deal nets them another second-round pick in this year's draft and a future late-rounder. The Bears are basically starting over in 2022 with new head coach Matt Eberflus, whose defense in Indy was different than the one employed in Chicago the last few seasons. So, it is not surprising to see the Bears making moves in order to shape their defense in the mold Eberflus wants. Mack will be missed in Chicago but the team is rebuilding now.

Fantasy impact
Mack should continue to be a solid source of sacks in many IDP fantasy formats next season. He is a solid draft candidate in most leagues.
