ROQUAN SMITH SENT TO BALTIMORE
The Baltimore Ravens acquired linebacker Roquan Smith from the Chicago Bears for linebacker A.J. Klein, a second-round draft pick in 2023 and a fifth-round draft pick in 2023.
What does it give the Baltimore Ravens
In Smith, the Ravens acquire a terrific inside linebacker who should make a major impact in Baltimore. After a shaky start, the Ravens' defense has improved over the last few weeks. Smith should make that group a lot better moving forward. He is a big upgrade over either Josh Bynes or Klein.
What does it give the Chicago Bears
After trading pass rusher Robert Quinn to Philadelphia recently, the Bears decided to double down on their rebuilding plan by sending (arguably) their best player to Baltimore. Chicago did well to get back two draft picks, while Klein should take some of the snaps that Smith was getting.
Fantasy impact
Smith was already a very good option for IDP leagues, so he should be immediately scooped up if available. There may be more sacks in Smith's future as a member of the Ravens. Klein does not have much in the way of IDP value at this time.
