COLTS ADD LB SHEPPARD FROM BUFFALO
The Indianapolis Colts acquired linebacker Kelvin Sheppard from the Buffalo Bills for defensive end/linebacker Jerry Hughes.
What does it give the Indianapolis Colts
Sheppard was a big disappointment with the Bills but he may be a better fit as an inside linebacker in the Colts' 3-4 defense. For now, he'll provide depth behind {P Jerrell Freeman}, {P Pat Angerer} and {P Kavell Conner} at inside linebacker.
What does it give the Buffalo Bills
Like Sheppard, Hughes was a big disappointment and needed a change of scenery. With the Bills, he could serve as a situational pass rusher and backup defensive end or linebacker. His versatility may help Buffalo as they seek to improve their defense.
Fantasy impact
Neither Sheppard nor Hughes had much fantasy value before this trade, so both could see a small spike in value with their new squads. That said, neither defender will make an impact in fantasy football.
