MacDERMID MOVED TO NEW JERSEY
The New Jersey Devils acquired forward/defenseman Kurtis MacDermid from the Colorado Avalanche for forward Zakhar Bardakov and a seventh-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the New Jersey Devils
Could this trade be a response to the New York Rangers? MacDermid is one of the toughest players in the NHL, and the Metropolitan Division is becoming increasingly intimidating. Enter MacDermid, who can play both wing and defense. He should help New Jersey, but they have other issues to resolve.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche used MacDermid in many different situations, and he was useful to the team. However, the Avs apparently felt OK with moving him to the Eastern Conference at this time. Bardakov is a versatile forward currently toiling in the KHL. He is not guaranteed to ever make it over to North America.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as MacDermid is a role player and Bardakov is a marginal European prospect.
