JETS LAND LUKE SCHENN
The Winnipeg Jets acquired defenseman Luke Schenn from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a second-round draft pick in 2026 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2027.
What does it give the Winnipeg Jets
In Schenn, the Jets pick up a physical veteran defender with lots of playoff experience. The 35-year-old is still a solid bottom-pairing defenseman, and he should be in the mix for that type of role in Winnipeg. He is a good depth addition as the Jets prepare to make a deep playoff run.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins had just acquired Schenn in a separate deal a few days prior. But with their playoff hopes this season fading fast, Schenn was not going to be a long-term fit. Pittsburgh did well securing two future draft picks here as they continue to retool.
Fantasy impact
Schenn only has value in very deep leagues that count hits and blocks. He may see less playing time with the Jets, however, which would reduce his already limited fantasy value.
