ANDERSON TO FLORIDA

The Florida Panthers acquired goaltender Craig Anderson from the Chicago Blackhawks for a sixth-round draft pick in 2008.

What does it give the Florida Panthers
After acquiring Alex Auld to be the starting netminder, the Panthers add Anderson to serve as the backup. However, Anderson was rumored to be on his way to Lada Togliatti of the Russian Superleague. Perhaps those plans are now on hold, since he should easily win a job with the Cats in 2006-07.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The 'Hawks have cut ties with Anderson for the second time, but at least they received a future draft pick for his rights this time around. With Anderson gone, the No. 2 job in Chicago will likely fall to Adam Munro, though Corey Crawford may push him for playing time in 2006-07.
