Greinke (0-4) took the loss Thursday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings against the Twins. He struck out three.
Greinke was announced as the Royals' Opening Day starter Friday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
An elite athlete and competitor, he has ridiculously good command of his mid-90's heat, slider, curve and changeup. Keeps the ball down. Walks very few batters and has improved his strikeout rate to dominant levels. Has learned to harness his intensity but will occasionally lose his composure on the mound. Had anxiety issues early on in his career. Is a somewhat fragile pitcher who gets injured relatively frequently (even for a pitcher).
Long Range Potential: Excellent right-hander, when healthy.
