Elias signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Thursday and was invited to major-league spring training, Tim Stebbins of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Scouting Report
Is crafty and cagey on the bump, and he understands the art of pitching. Does not give in to batters easily, so he can frustrate opponents. Has a projectable frame. Could stand to be more aggressive in challenging hitters when on the mound, and walk fewer batters as a result. Also needs to work on improving his stamina.
Long Range Potential: Versatile left-hander.
