Had a very good batting eye, excellent patience, terrific run-producing skills and decent speed. Also had a rangy, athletic frame. Was good with the glove in the outfield, especially early on in his MLB career. Was never a consistent power hitter, but he always seemed to get the job done in critical situations. Defensively, he did not have a great throwing arm. Injuries became a major problem for him over time, which limited him to part-time outfield (and DH) duties. Still, he enjoyed a long, productive career and was a winning baseball player.

Long Range Potential: Excellent outfielder and clutch hitter (when healthy).
