A tough, physical runner and good receiver out of the backfield, he instinctively found holes between the tackles. Was patient when following blockers and delivered a heavy blow on contact with defenders. Could sustain forward momentum with his leg drive and core strength; he was a powerful weapon on the goal line and in short-yardage situations. Lacked change-of-pace moves and breakaway speed; he was limited to short dumps and screens in the passing game. His willingness to extend runs raised the turnover risk with him. Also, his punishing style led to a career-ending neck injury that finished off his NFL career prematurely.
