A waterbug type of back, he could change direction impressively at full speed. Elusive, he owned good hands as a receiving back. Had lower leg strength to break some arm tackles. Was able to line up either in the backfield or as a receiver, plus he was a very good return man as well. Tiny for the NFL, his durability was always a question mark and struggled with heavy workloads when he was the main option out of the backfield. At times he made some bad decisions when going for the big play, and he also had some ball security issues. Injuries were a major factor throughout his NFL career.
