Had great speed and elusive open-field moves in his prime years; he could free himself from defenders off the jam, then make impressive catches in stride. Possessed good hands and body control, and showed nice field vision in the return game as well. Was always prone to injury. Also, he was inconsistent in his overall play; could produce like a star in some games and then disappear for others. Lacked ideal size for a go-to receiver at the NFL level, and could get shut down on jump balls or downfield.
