Always showed up in big games on the largest stage and in the biggest moments. Owned an accurate shot. Had good quickness in small areas. Gritty and elusive, he was quite efficient at maneuvering through high-traffic areas. He also possessed sound defensive skills. Lacked a bit of strength and was significantly prone to injury, though his luck improved dramatically over the years on the injury front. Not an especially fast skater, he nevertheless had the savvy to go to the dangerous scoring areas regularly. Was the type of player who provided his team a huge lift everywhere he toiled.
