JOHNSON RETURNS TO AVS
The Colorado Avalanche acquired defenseman Jack Johnson from the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Andreas Englund.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
Johnson will be expected to play the same role as he did for the Avalanche last season: stepping into the lineup as a reliable defender when injuries arise. He should get into lots of games for Colorado while Erik Johnson recovers from injury.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Chicago is trading away a pending UFA defenseman for a younger one that plays a similar style. Englund should play more minutes with the Blackhawks, and they can use the rest of this season to determine if he is a fit for the future.
