Gamel signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Scouting Report
Is a solid hitter for average with sneaky power and some base-stealing acumen as well. His plate discipline is fairly decent and he is also a heady baseball player. Does not have optimum home-run power, so he might be reduced to a backup or platoon role in MLB (since he bats left-handed). Lacks consistency, overall.
Long Range Potential: Solid outfielder with a little upside.
