The 49ers elevated Vaughn from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Thursday's game versus the Rams.
The 49ers signed Vaughn on Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
A heavy runner for his size with a one cut style that lends itself to early-down carries. His tree-trunk thick frame is a load to bring down; he will blow through arm tackles to reach the second level. Was hugely productive over his last two college seasons as a featured workhorse with over 2,200 yards and 21 touchdowns in 24 games. Is evolving as a receiver but remains a marginal asset in the passing game. Lacks the shiftiness and creativity of a true playmaker.
Long Range Potential: Tandem running back and early-down banger.
