Mond isn't a candidate to start Week 18 against Chicago as Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said "not particularly" when asked if he wanted to see Mond play, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Mond played one series in Sunday's loss at Green Bay going 2-of-3 passing for five yards.

Mond will be the backup quarterback behind Sean Mannion during Sunday's contest against the Packers after Minnesota placed Kirk Cousins (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reports.
