LaBate signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blue Jackets on Friday. He was also put on waivers for the purposes of sending him to AHL Cleveland.
Scouting Report
Owns a huge frame and some goal-scoring acumen at lower levels. Can play an imposing, physical brand of hockey. Is somewhat versatile up front. Needs to continue filling out his big frame even more to maximize his hitting ability. Also needs more work on his consistency.
Long Range Potential: Big, physical depth forward.
