Barnes was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
The Nationals selected Barnes to the major-league roster Sunday.
Owns a great fastball, and he is never afraid to pitch up in the strike zone with it. The result is good strikeout totals and intimidation qualities on the bump (he likes to pitch inside), so He is a bit of a throwback pitcher. Needs to refine his secondary pitches in order to maximize his vast potential as a starter at the big-league level. Otherwise, he may have to settle for a late-inning relief role. Must also learn how to change speeds better.
Long Range Potential: Aggressive right-hander.
