The Angels selected Kingery's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
The Angels acquired Kingery from the Phillies on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.
His baseball IQ is off the charts and his all-around tools are stellar. His power-speed combination is fairly rare for an infielder and his ability to make contact gives him potential to bat early in the order. Is also a superb defender, particularly at the keystone position. Can also play in the outfield, due to his athleticism. The power in his swing was somewhat late to bloom in the minors, raising concerns it might not continue consistently in Major League Baseball. Additionally, he must show greater patience at the dish. Lacks ideal size (5-10, 180 pounds) for MLB. Is a pretty complete ball player.
