The Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The second-generation cornerback is already off to a good start in catching his dad (former All-Pro defensive back Patrick Surtain) for the family career mark in interceptions. The No. 9 pick in the 2021 draft stepped right in after a stellar career at the University of Alabama and showed he was more than ready for the NFL thanks to his size and talent. He has the cover skills to match up with any receiver and is also solid in run support.
Long Range Potential: Outstanding, all-around cornerback.
