Barnes signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Scouting Report
Has a thick body and the ability to be used as either a starter or reliever, which adds to his overall value to a big-league team. Can strike plenty of batters out in the minors. Can be too hittable at times, especially when used as a starter, so his future in Major League Baseball may lie as a middle reliever. Walks can also be a bit of an issue for him.
Long Range Potential: Versatile right-hander.
