The Minnesota Wild acquired winger Justin Brazeau from the Boston Bruins for winger Jakub Lauko, center Marat Khusnutdinov and a sixth-round draft pick in 2026. |
Khusnutdinov scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Red Wings.
Khusnutdinov scored a goal in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Canadiens.
In his draft year, he broke out in the Russian junior ranks with 38 points in 44 games for SKA-1946 St. Petersburg of the MHL. A quality two-way center, he uses his excellent skating ability to both create offense and defend his own end of the ice. He is a creative playmaker when he does have puck possession but lacks the goal-scoring prowess of a natural sharpshooter. Also lacks ideal size for the National Hockey League game, so he will need to get physically stronger in order to thrive at the highest level. His high IQ level makes up for his weaknesses to a large extent.
Long Range Potential: Smart, quick two-way center with upside.
