Garand was assigned to AHL Hartford on Sunday, according to Peter Baugh of The Athletic.
Garand has been recalled from AHL Hartford by the Rangers, the team announced Sunday.
As a 17-year-old goalkeeper, he broke out with a strong junior campaign for the WHL's Kamloops Blazers. That led to his participation in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Has a projectable frame but he must add bulk and learn how to cover more net (at times he looks too small in the crease area). Displays a very good glove hand. Is a battler who reads plays well and is always willing to do whatever is necessary in order to make the save. Needs a lot of time to fully hone his puck-stopping skills but the talent is there.
Long Range Potential: Talented, combative goaltender with upside.
