Backlund notched a power-play assist, three shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Predators.
Backlund scored an empty-net goal on four shots, dished an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Wild.
Coaches love his work ethic, his skating ability and his willingness to play defense--all of which have followed him into his 30s. He is also an excellent penalty killer. His best offensive trait is his skill as a playmaker, but he needs to shoot more to keep opponents from dropping off him. Is ideally a third-line pivot but can play higher up in the lineup.
