Gettinger was placed on waivers by the Red Wings on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Scouting Report
Possesses outstanding size (6-6, 217 pounds) and he should grow even more to eventually play at 220-230 pounds in the NHL. Skates extremely well for his size. Has good offensive acumen. Needs to make better use of his impressive size from a physical standpoint in order to maximize his assets at the National Hockey League level. Also, he is still somewhat raw.
Long Range Potential: Towering scoring winger with upside.
