Viel inked a two-year, $1.55 million contract with Boston on Monday.
Scouting Report
He is good at finding ways to make an impact in the limited ice time he gets as an NHL depth forward. Was a true power forward in junior hockey, where he averaged 36 goals and 125 penalty minutes in his final three seasons, but is mostly a physical presence at the top level. Is more than willing to stand up for his teammates, and can be useful as long as he avoids taking bad penalties.
Long Range Potential: Physical winger.
