Offensive coordinator Dave Canales said Wednesday the Buccaneers won't rush to name Mayfield or Kyle Trask as the starting quarterback, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
Mayfield agreed Wednesday with the Buccaneers on a one-year contract worth a maximum of $8.5 million, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
He's a highly accurate passer with superb decision-making skills and touch. He can really air it out, and is a regular deep-pass threat. He's been highly productive, which only adds to his confidence. Does a very good job of limiting and preventing pickoffs. Mobile and nimble in the pocket. His height isn't ideal for the NFL pocket. He has short arms for a pro quarterback, so must really time his throws over the D-line. Small-ish hands may be an issue with ball control.
Long Range Potential: Potential star quarterback.
