The Giants are acquiring Burns in a trade with the Panthers and signing him to a five-year contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Is a lethal edge rusher and a horror show for pass protectors; a rare combination of athleticism and speed presents matchup problems for blockers. Uses raw quickness and a long stride to infiltrate the backfield as a persistent outside sack threat, create havoc and force turnovers. Deployed as a stand-up defensive end in college, he is ideally suited to a hybrid role in the pros. Lacks the sheer mass and heavy limbs to stand his ground as a down lineman at the NFL level.
