Per George Richards of Florida Hockey Now, head coach Paul Maurice said Thursday that Ekblad was fine after blocking a shot at the end of Wednesday's tilt against Philadelphia, and will play Friday versus Calgary.
Ekblad (illness) was on the ice for Monday's morning skate, Rob Darragh of the Panthers' official site reports.
The top pick in the 2014 NHL Draft has recovered from a severe leg injury and continues to grow into one of the league's best defensemen as he reaches the prime of his career. Has all the tools: size (6’4”), strength, skating ability and hockey sense. Has a big point shot, moves the puck well and can quarterback a power play. Can play 25-plus minutes per game and be a difference maker.
Long Range Potential: Elite all-around defenseman.
