Kovalenko (upper body) is day-to-day and won't play Saturday versus Minnesota, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.
Plays a similarly aggressive game like his father, former NHL winger Andrei Kovalenko. Unfortunately, he does not have as much bulk as his dad. That said, he skates well and plays with an in-your-face attitude. Forechecks very well and can produce offense in a supporting role. Can play on either side of center, too.
