Stecher (ankle) was on the ice Monday with Edmonton teammates for an informal skate ahead of training camp, Tom Gazzola of Edmonton Sports Talk reports.
Stecher is slated to have ankle surgery at some point this summer, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.
A good skater and passer, he usually knows when to join the rush and when to stay home. His biggest issue is his lack of optimum size, so he could stand to add more strength in order to move his game to the next level. Will never put up big scoring numbers at the NHL level, though he showed at lower levels that he can contribute offensively.
Long Range Potential: Useful puck-moving defenseman.
