Payton notched 15 points (7-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three rebounds and two assists over 23 minutes during Monday's 104-101 loss to the Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Payton will join the starting lineup for Monday's Game 5 against the Lakers, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
A do-it-all guard with immense athleticism. Brings elite bounce and explosive quickness, showing great ability to blow past his defender and finish with highlight-reel dunks. Also a top-tier defender and ball thief, thanks to good length and anticipation (and the tutelage of his Hall of Fame father). A lefty. Plays much bigger than his size. Somewhat undersized for the NBA backcourt, and doesn't make up for it with a consistent shooting stroke (from either the perimeter or the free throw line). While a good passer he can be more of a distributor, especially on the drive-and-dish. Plays a bit out of control at times.
