Hedman agreed to terms on a four-year, $32 million contract extension with Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
Hedman supplied three assists -- including one on the power play -- in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Panthers for Game 4 of the conference quarterfinals.
Is still capable of playing major minutes after more than a decade in the NHL. His combination of size (6'6", 241 pounds) and elite skating ability make him tough to get around. His passing skills remain elite, although he could shoot the puck more often. Is one of the few defensemen who regularly takes part in shootouts, a true testament to his excellent overall skill set. Is not the most physical player, considering his size, but he remains among the NHL’s handful of top defensemen.
Long Range Potential: Elite, do-it-all defenseman.
