The first NHL player born in South Carolina has always played with plenty of grit, and his offensive skills appear to be catching up as he enters his late 20s. He is a good agitator who can get opponents off their game, and coaches trust his play away from the puck. His willingness and ability to get pucks on net have made him more valuable offensively.
