Blackwood will protect the visiting crease versus San Jose on Thursday, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
Blackwood stopped 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Canucks. The third goal was an empty-netter with 2:35 left in the third period.
At 6'4", he takes up a lot of net but is more than just a big body: he is quick for his size and shows good athleticism. His size helps him excel in the traditional butterfly style. He plays the puck well and has quick reactions with his blocker and catching glove. Needs to get more consistent as he moves into the prime of his NHL career.
Long Range Potential: Big, talented goaltender with some upside.
