Acciari clarified Thursday that he suffered a glute injury but would have been ready for the postseason after avoiding surgery, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Acciari (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. While the team didn't offer specifics, according to Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports, Acciari is headed for long-term injured reserve, which will effectively end his 2023-24 campaign.
A 5’10” bowling ball on skates, he will hit anyone in the wrong-colored sweater. He is good at protecting the puck and winning battles in the corners, and he is also a useful penalty killer. Not much of a playmaker, he is usually limited to a bottom-six forward role as his NHL career progresses. Has trouble staying healthy.
