Malenstyn was assigned to AHL Hershey on Thursday.
Has a very projectable (6'2") frame and displays emerging size and strength for the highest level. Is an extremely industrious winger who does not hurt his team defensively. In fact, he can be used as a penalty killer at all levels. Is also quite feisty and a solid hitter, so he is an asset in physical contests. Lacks high-end scoring ability, even at lower levels, so he is mostly a role player. Must prove capable of perfecting his role and finding his NHL niche in order to maximize his appearances.
Long Range Potential: Big, hard-working winger with some upside.
