Schmid signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Golden Knights on Wednesday, per CapFriendly.
Schmid was acquired by the Golden Knights from the Devils alongside Alexander Holtz on Saturday in exchange for Paul Cotter and a 2025 third-round draft pick.
The towering Swiss goalkeeper went from USHL goaltender of the year in 2020-21 to the NHL the following season, which is extremely rare. The 2018 fifth-round draft pick is still raw and needs to fill out his 6'5" frame. However, he takes up a lot of net simply because of his size. He also has the tools to play in the NHL, though he needs to sand down the rough spots.
Long Range Potential: Huge goaltender with upside.
