Murphy (undisclosed) will miss the season finale against LA on Thursday because he tweaked something during Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Vegas, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Murphy (groin) has been taken off injured reserve ahead of Friday's matchup with Nashville.
The veteran defenseman is capable of matching up against an opponent's top scorers and is the kind of player a team wants on the ice when trying to hold a lead late in the game. He skates well, has plenty of size and strength, and is capable of playing an effective 20-plus minutes most nights. Will not generate a lot of offense but is a good leader and solid presence in the locker room.
