Teravainen signed a three-year, $16.2 million contract with the Blackhawks on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet on Monday.
Teravainen and Bryan Bickell were traded to the Hurricanes on Wednesday in exchange for a 2016 second-round and 2017 third-round draft pick.
A true playmaking wing, his skating, skills and creativity more than compensate for his lack of size and muscle. He has excellent offensive instincts and terrific hands, as well as very good possession numbers, meaning that when he is on the ice, the puck is usually headed in the right direction. Concussion issues are hopefully behind him.
