PANTHERS ADD SGARBOSSA FROM ANAHEIM

The Florida Panthers acquired center Michael Sgarbossa from the Anaheim Ducks for winger Logan Shaw.

What does it give the Florida Panthers
The Panthers get a little added center depth in Sgarbossa, who will begin his Panthers experience in the American Hockey League. He might have trouble cracking a Florida lineup with Vincent Trocheck, Aleksander Barkov, Nick Bjugstad, Derek MacKenzie and Denis Malgin ahead of him on the depth chart.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
Sgarbossa is close to cracking the NHL on a permanent basis, so it is disappointing that the Ducks gave up on him at this time. In Shaw, the Ducks land a hard-working (yet limited) talent who appeared in 53 NHL games for the Panthers last season. That makes him eligible to be exposed in the 2017 expansion draft.

Fantasy impact
Sgarbossa's limited fantasy value takes a major hit now that he has moved on from Anaheim. As for Shaw, he will always have very limited fantasy value (no matter where he plays).
