The Chicago Blackhawks acquired winger Tomas Jurco from the Detroit Red Wings for a third-round draft pick in 2017.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
In Jurco, the Blackhawks land yet another reclamation project up front. The club hopes they can jumpstart his career much in the same way they did with fellow Slovakian winger Richard Panik. It is a rather expensive gamble, though.
What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings did well to land a third rounder in exchange for Jurco, who had become disgruntled because of a serious lack of playing time in Detroit this season. This may be the start of a massive overhaul in the Motor City. Stay tuned!
Fantasy impact
Jurco's career was headed in the wrong direction in Detroit, so this move should help him as he seeks to rediscover his game. That said, he may be caught in a numbers game down the stretch, so his fantasy value may only spike forward in 2017-18.
