SENS ADD VETERAN ALEXANDRE BURROWS
The Ottawa Senators acquired winger Alexandre Burrows from the Vancouver Canucks for forward Jonathan Dahlen.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
In Burrows, the Senators add a grizzled veteran winger who can still be a capable checker and penalty-killing specialist in the NHL. He agreed to waive his no-trade clause to go to Ottawa in exchange for a two-year contract extension--not bad for a veteran who turns 36 in April.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
This is a fantastic trade for the Canucks, who add an exciting offensive prospect in Dahlen (son of former NHL winger Ulf Dahlen). The 19-year-old Swede has enjoyed a great 2016-17 campaign in the Swedish Allsvenskan (second tier) with Timra and is a solid prospect.
Fantasy impact
Dahlen's fantasy value was high before the deal, but it probably moves even higher now because he could reach Vancouver more quickly after the trade. As for Burrows, he lost most of his fantasy value when he stopped riding shotgun with the Sedin twins. Pass on Burrows.
