PREDS ACQUIRE VETERAN SCORER PARENTEAU

The Nashville Predators acquired winger PA Parenteau from the New Jersey Devils for a sixth-round draft pick in 2017.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
The Predators were reportedly looking for center help, but instead settled for added secondary scoring in the form of Parenteau. Perhaps the strong play of Calle Jarnkrok down the middle helped GM David Poile make the decision to add a winger instead. Parenteau could play on the third line and bump either Craig Smith or James Neal down the depth chart. Parenteau will also help on the power play.

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
The Devils did not get a lot in return for Parenteau, but it is still something considering the fact that they acquired the 33-year-old via waivers earlier this season. Moving Parenteau out should give the likes of Beau Bennett, Joseph Blandisi, Miles Wood and Pavel Zacha more ice time down the stretch. This deal gives the Devils 10 draft picks for the 2017 NHL Draft, which should help them reload next year.

Fantasy impact
Parenteau's fantasy stock should be slightly higher now that he has moved to Nashville. The Devils have a lot of trouble scoring, while the Predators have been lighting it up lately. He would be a solid, short-term pick-up in most fantasy leagues.
