SILLINGER DEALT TO NASHVILLE

The Nashville Predators acquired forward Mike Sillinger from the St. Louis Blues for winger Timofei Shishkanov.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
A veteran of 13 NHL seasons, Sillinger brings a vast amount of experience, forward versatility and special teams know-how to the Predators--as well as a strong presence down the middle, which is the Predators' leanest position. The Blues' leading goal-scorer with 22 markers, 11 of them on the power play, Sillinger is on his way to his best-ever NHL season. His prowess in the faceoff circle--among NHL leaders at 55.3 percent--will especially come in handy, making him and new teammate Yanic Perreault a formidable duo. The Preds think they have a shot at making a good run in the playoffs and Sillinger should help solidify their aspirations.

What does it give the St. Louis Blues
With the fire sale now in full swing in St. Louis, acquiring youngsters is priority No. 1. Enter Shishkanov, a swift-skating, crafty Russian winger that should be an NHL regular once he has rounded out his game. The AHL All-Rookie Team member in 2003-04 had 14 goals and 29 points in 46 games with the Milwaukee Admirals at the time of the trade. His best position is left wing, where he can create offense from the off-wing. Shishkanov also has enough size to compete at the NHL level.
