DEVILS LAND SALVADOR

The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Bryce Salvador from the St. Louis Blues for right winger Cam Janssen.

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
Salvador is an upgrade over physical defensemen Vitaly Vishnevski and Sheldon Brookbank, so he fills a need on the Devils. An unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, Salvador appears to be a short-term fix for a New Jersey eyeing the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

What does it give the St. Louis Blues
Janssen's hard-nosed style should mesh well with the Blues, since he'll probably see more ice time as a regular fourth liner in St. Louis. The Blues have plenty of defensive depth, so it's no surprise that they've moved a pending UFA.
