The Ottawa Senators acquired defenseman David Rundblad from the St. Louis Blues for a first-round draft pick in 2010.

The Senators didn't like what was left at the draft table when they were to pick 16th overall, so they moved the selection to the Blues for Rundblad, who was a first rounder Ottawa coveted a year ago. The Sens are starting to build a strong defensive squad with youth, and Rundblad adds to it.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues
The Blues decided to deal away Rundblad, since they currently boast plenty of defense prospects. With the 16th pick of the first round, the Blues selected Russian winger Vladimir Tarasenko, who could be a major-league home run if he comes to North America after 2010-11.
