WILD ADD DEFENSIVE DEPTH WITH LOOV

The Minnesota Wild acquired defenseman Viktor Loov from the New Jersey Devils for forwards Christoph Bertschy and Mario Lucia.

What does it give the Minnesota Wild
The Wild recently lost Swedish defenseman Jonas Brodin to hand surgery, so they felt the need to add another depth defenseman. Enter countryman Loov, who has a little NHL experience (4 GP with Toronto) and might be able to fill in as an interim replacement (if the Wild decide to call him up right away).

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
The Devils suddenly feel good about their depth on defense, so they decided to move Loov out for two AHL forwards in Bertschy and Lucia. Bertschy has some NHL experience and could work his way to New Jersey at some point this season, while Lucia is more of a depth player for the AHL roster.

Fantasy impact
Loov is more of a defensive defenseman, so his fantasy value stays the same now that he is with the Wild organization. Bertschy could be a sneaky-good fantasy sleeper if he is able to crack a relatively deep Devils lineup at some point. Lucia has virtually no fantasy value to speak of.
